In the area of Playa de San Juan outside of Alicante, Spain there aren’t many hotels, as it’s mainly a residential area. There is however, a wonderful hotel called Almirante. It’s a 3 star hotel, but could honestly be more. Excellent service, checkin experience and lovely rooms. This year I tried the Panorama room, I lucked out and got the highest floor (5th).

It has a wrap around balcony with chairs, table and sun loungers. I absolutely love the view! Who wouldn’t want to wake up like this?

Bathrooms are important to me, so needless to say I loved this one! Natural light, spacey and airy and again a wonderful view! The bathroom included a big shower (incl a handheld showerhead) and body wash, schampoo etc by Karl Lagerfeld.

With the Panorama room, you get water bottles and some fruit included with your room rate. There is also a small fridge and coffee maker. Both the room and the bathroom have automatic blackout blinds, so with the push of a button you can have more darkness/privacy at night.

The hotel is a 2 min walk to the beach, as you can see, and there is a tram stop a few hundred meters away that will take you into central Alicante in approx. 15 min. In the residential area behind the hotel you can find some restaurants and a big grocery store (Consum).

The pool area is nice and relaxing and there is pool service as well.

The hotel has a restaurant and also a more simple bar/cafe in the daytime.

Summary: If you like peace and clean, lovely rooms next to the beach this hotel is for you! I have stayed in a Premium room previously and it was also excellent, but the Panorama room was definitely a step up with the great views. You can check out their website at http://www.hotelalmirante.com
