Citizen M is a chain of hotels with a distinct look and style, very modern, very high tech. In Miami I decided to give it a try. Hotel prices in Miami are pretty ridiculous, and they all ask for at least $100 in security deposits, per night. I’ll probably make another post on how stupid that is but for now let’s focus on Citizen M. Citizen M has very reasonable prices and no security deposit when I was staying there.
Since it has now joined Marriott Bonvoy, this may have changed (but I really hope not).
All Citizen M rooms have the exact same look, but you can pay extra for a higher floor. The bed is XL, even though it doesn’t look big in this picture. A very comfortable bed, pillows are large and very firm, but you can ask for softer ones (which I did)
They do make good use of the space you have, the part on the left in this pic is a mini fridge! Very handy! Everything in the room is controlled by an Ipad, personally that’s too high tech for me but you can also control the lights in the normal way. Blackout curtains and day curtains are also electrical.
The shower is small but works great and you can control the mood lighting with the Ipad as well. The hotel is soundproofed and is a fairly new building, I slept really well and was never disturbed.
The rooftop pool is great and has a small bar too. The hotel is at the end of Lincoln Rd mall and the walk to Ocean dr and the beach is around 15-20 min. There are shops and restaurants all along the way, so you won’t get bored.
The lobby and bar area is filled with cool art and furniture.
If you don’t mind staying a few blocks from the beach, this is a great choice. It was clean, the price was great (around $135 in off season). The rooftop pool is a big plus! There is a Trader Joe’s grocery store 2 min walk away and don’t miss the awesome small taco place across the street!
It is a 4 star hotel, but I don’t think the service always reflected that, it was a mixed bag. It’s more of a self service hotel, you check yourself in etc.
