Most of the time when looking for meal photos onboard BA, there are tons of photos of the meal service in Club World. That it understandable, but maybe some of you fly economy and are curious what the meals can look like.
This is from a long haul flight to London in BA’s A380, spring of 2024. I love the A380 and always make sure to pick it over the 777’s. For me, the best place to sit is on the upper deck, it’s less crowded and more space for luggage, since most people tend to choose the lower deck. The upper deck also has a dedicated boarding door which is handy when you want to get off quicker.
Leg room is ok, there are worse planes for sure. Most of all, the A380 is a very smooth ride, even in turbulence and of course the most stable area to sit is in the middle of the cabin. The only downside is the wings are huge, so the views are not that good.
The A380’s from BA are showing some wear now, but I’m so glad they came back after the pandemic!
Now to the food, this flight is approx 10,5 hrs from Los Angeles to London, and it is a night flight. There are 2 meal services with hot food, one about 1,5 hrs after takeoff and the last around the same time before landing. In between there are small snacks in the galley and of course drinks/water etc.
Note that my meal is a special meal (low fat), as you can see it’s not very attractive but tasted ok as far as airline food goes. The chicken was ok, but that’s it. There used to be more fruit with this meal, which I miss and I definitely think there should be a wholegrain bun instead of the white one for a healthy meal. (With normal meals, you do get a dessert as well) One thing that I really can’t stand is the wooden cutlery. It tastes bad and is overall nasty.
Breakfast before landing in London was this mash, eggs and I’m not sure what? I personally can’t stand curry so I wish they would not put that in every other meal. Mushrooms, one little tomato, there is also a rice cookie hidden to the right. A few small pieces of melon.
There you have it, current special meal in BA long haul to and from LAX (the outbound was similar). Never get onboard without eating before and bring snacks!
