When I decided to visit Budapest, Hungary for the first time this spring I knew I had to stay in this hotel. There is just something about the gorgeous interior and the old world look that I fell for when I saw it online.
The Anantara New York Palace is a 5 star luxury hotel and part of Leading Hotels of the World. Right away you know, this is going to be a fantastic stay and it was!
From the moment I entered the lobby, seeing the atrium and hearing the music from the New York Cafe, I loved it. Everything is luxurious and the scent in the lobby is inviting, the service is wonderful and it feels like you travel to another era in time.
I had booked a Deluxe room, which is their base room, but was upgraded to a Premium room. It was very spacious, with all the amenities you could ask for. Bath products by Aqua Di Parma and of course robes and slippers.
Plenty of room to spread out incl a couch and a well stocked minibar.
My room was a bit dark, as it was towards the back of the building in the newer section, but that is really my only complaint. The bed was fantastic and I slept like a baby!
If you stay at this hotel, adding breakfast is a must! It’s served in the lower section of the famous New York Cafe’ and the buffet is filled with anything you could want for breakfast.
The New York Cafe is called the “Most Beautiful Cafe in the World” and yes it’s expensive but so worth going to if you are in Budapest. Most days there is a long line outside, but as a hotel guest you get VIP access and can get a table right away. I couldn’t stop looking at the ceiling and all the tiny little golden details everywhere. Pictures just don’t do it justice. I tried the New York Cafe chocolate cake and it was wonderful, with some 18 carat gold on top.
They have live musicians that you can also hear while having breakfast.
The hotel also has a spa with pool and treatment rooms, I did not visit there because of lack of time. As a whole this hotel ticked all my boxes and I would love to return when I’m in Budapest!
